The Purpose of Ovoohub:
Ovoohub is a website that can translate recordings into documents, and users can post their stories to share with others on this website for conversation. Ovoohub’s purpose is to preserve stories from the elderly or other family members, which can commemorate and leave an imprint of someone’s life stories. Moreover, Ovoohub hopes to form an online community that can share people’s stories, share cultures, and share exciting experiences in one’s life.

What Inspired Ovoohub?
I was doing research on the history of the ovoo, which is a sacred mound of stonesused in Mongolian traditions as a place for worshipand honoring local spirits, in my home Darhan Muminggan United Banner, in Inner Mongolia. I heard someone mourning the loss of their traditional way of living. His answer reminded me of the experience of volunteering in the care center for old people that the old people there cannot share their stories with their children. Instead, the old people told me their stories, and they expressed that it’s a shame that they cannot pass on their experiences and the lessonsto their children. Stories connect families and pass on cultural heritage.I hope this can be a space where people share their life stories, knowing that one day those stories might leave a mark on a family member or even a stranger. Hence, I made Ovoohub to preserve the stories of the elderly in the last moments of their life for their children.
